FRSC returns ₦3.7m recovered from crash scene in Zaria

Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attached to the Zaria Unit Command have recovered and returned ₦3,727,500 in cash and other valuables worth about ₦500,000 from the scene of a fatal road crash, in a striking display of integrity and professionalism.

The crash occurred on Sunday, 15 March 2026, along the Zaria–Funtua Highway near Zaria Academy, involving a Toyota Corolla and a Peugeot 806 carrying nine passengers. One person died at the scene, while eight others sustained injuries.

FRSC rescue teams responded promptly, administering first aid and evacuating the injured to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, for treatment.

During the rescue and clearance operation, personnel discovered a large sum of money and valuables scattered at the crash site. The officers secured the ₦3.7 million and safeguarded all items for proper return to the owners.

On Monday, 16 March 2026, the Zaria Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander Nasiru A. Falgore, formally handed over the recovered cash to the victims in the presence of relatives and witnesses, underscoring the Corps’ commitment to protecting both lives and property.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed commended the officers for their exemplary conduct, describing the act as a reflection of the FRSC’s core values of honesty, accountability, and service.

Beneficiaries of the recovered funds expressed deep gratitude, praising the officers for both saving lives and preserving their property at a critical moment. They also pledged to promote road safety awareness in their communities.

The incident reinforces public confidence in the FRSC as a disciplined and trustworthy institution dedicated to transparent and selfless service.
