Eid-el-Fitr: FRSC urges road safety
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, as declared by Saad Abubakar III, President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
He commended the faithful for their devotion, discipline, and spiritual commitment throughout the holy month, urging them to sustain the virtues of love, patience, selflessness, and peaceful coexistence beyond Ramadan.
The Corps Marshal noted that these values—particularly restraint, sacrifice, and care for others—are essential for safer roads, stressing that many road traffic crashes are preventable when road users act responsibly.
He therefore urged motorists, pedestrians, and all road users to obey traffic rules, avoid reckless driving, and prioritise the safety of lives and property, especially during the festive period.
While wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyous celebration, he reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to safer highways through intensified patrols, strategic deployment of personnel, and collaboration with stakeholders nationwide.
Members of the public were also encouraged to support emergency response efforts by reporting crashes and road incidents via the FRSC toll-free line 122 and National Traffic Radio platforms for prompt intervention.
He called on all Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to promote unity, national harmony, and shared responsibility in building a safer road environment for all.
