The Office of Abubakar Malami, SAN, has issued a firm rebuttal to ongoing media reports peddling unverified allegations and speculation about his person, warning that the continued trial by headlines undermines due process and constitutional rights.

Abubakar Malami, SAN, has not been convicted of any offence. Nonetheless, certain media outlets persist in presenting allegations and investigations as established facts, in clear violation of the constitutional presumption of innocence.

We categorically dismiss claims that arms or ammunition were discovered in any residence linked to Abubakar Malami, SAN. These assertions are false, baseless and unsupported by any official record, judicial process or lawful disclosure. No such information has been communicated to his family or legal representatives.

Similarly, we strongly deny any allegation or insinuation linking Abubakar Malami, SAN, to terrorism or terrorism financing. Such claims lack specifics, evidence or identifiable transactions, rendering them speculative, reckless and defamatory.

Since his arrest by the DSS on Monday, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has been denied access to his family and legal counsel, raising serious concerns about his welfare and the violation of his constitutionally guaranteed rights.

We also decry the emotional distress and hardship inflicted on his family and staff by sensational and unverified media narratives.

It bears emphasis that Abubakar Malami, SAN, is a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and has openly declared his intention to contest the 2027 Kebbi State governorship election. In this context, the apparent political undertones surrounding these reports cannot be ignored. Legal processes must not be politicised.

Abubakar Malami, SAN, remains committed to the rule of law. We urge the media to act responsibly, distinguish facts from allegations, and allow due process to run its course without prejudice.
