FRSC Averts Fuel Tanker Disaster in Kaduna, No Casualties Recorded
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Sunday prevented what could have been a major disaster following the crash of a fully loaded fuel tanker at NEPA Roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026, when the tanker fell at the busy roundabout, raising fears of a possible fire outbreak and secondary crashes. Acting swiftly on a distress call received at about 7:15 a.m., personnel of the FRSC Kaduna Sector Command, operating under RS1.1, were immediately deployed to the scene.
The rescue operation was led by Deputy Route Commander, DRC I. Gunda. On arrival, FRSC operatives promptly secured the area by shutting all access roads leading to the crash site to prevent further accidents and avert the risk of an explosion. Traffic was immediately diverted to alternative routes to ease congestion and maintain order within the Kaduna metropolis.
Officials of the Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Police Force joined the FRSC at the scene, as coordinated efforts commenced to safely evacuate the fuel content and remove the tanker from the road.
As at the time of filing this report, no casualties had been recorded.
The FRSC commended road users for their cooperation and urged motorists to remain calm, obey traffic instructions, and exercise patience while recovery operations continue.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to proactive emergency response, effective traffic management, and the protection of lives and property on Nigerian roads.
