EFCC Arrests Woman over Alleged ₦165m Land Scam in Delta

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a 48-year-old woman, Mrs. Salt Adeaze Udoka, over an alleged ₦165 million property fraud involving a 100-acre parcel of land in Delta State.

Udoka was apprehended by operatives of the EFCC’s Benin Zonal Directorate following allegations that she conspired with two other individuals to defraud a victim under the guise of selling a large expanse of land located in Ewulu Kingdom, Delta State.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim transferred the sum of ₦165 million to Udoka and one of her alleged accomplices, Ndubisi John Iheukwumere, after they claimed ownership of the property and promised to perfect the sale.

However, shortly after receiving the money, Udoka and her collaborators reportedly went into hiding and severed all communication with the victim, failing to deliver the property or refund the funds paid.

The EFCC disclosed that the suspect has made useful statements to investigators, adding that she will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The anti-graft agency reaffirmed its commitment to tackling economic and financial crimes, warning members of the public to exercise due diligence in property transactions to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
