Delta NNPP Rejects ‘Terrorist’ Label Against Kwankwaso
The Delta State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has strongly condemned what it described as a calculated attempt to blackmail and falsely label its national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as a terrorist.
In a statement issued to journalists, the NNPP Delta State Chairman, Hon. Rex E. Ogboru, described the allegations as “baseless, malicious, and politically motivated,” warning that such narratives pose a serious threat to Nigeria’s democratic stability.
Ogboru said he has worked closely with Kwankwaso since 2022 alongside other Christian leaders and community stakeholders, insisting that the former Kano State governor has consistently demonstrated inclusiveness, religious tolerance, and respect for diverse ethnic and faith groups across the country.
“At no point have I observed any anti-Christian sentiment or extremist behavior from Engr. Kwankwaso,” Ogboru stated. “On the contrary, his leadership style has been defined by bridge-building, unity, and national cohesion.”
The NNPP chairman further described the terrorist label as a “dangerous and reckless smear campaign” aimed at undermining Kwankwaso’s reputation and weakening opposition voices in Nigeria’s political space.
He warned that the spread of unverified and inflammatory allegations could fuel unnecessary tensions and destabilize the country’s fragile political climate.
The party called on Nigerians and members of the international community to disregard what it termed false narratives and instead focus on issue-based political engagement.
According to Ogboru, Kwankwaso remains “a patriotic leader committed to national development, peace, and unity,” urging political actors to uphold democratic values and avoid divisive tactics.
The statement comes amid heightened political discourse as parties position themselves ahead of future electoral contests, with stakeholders emphasizing the need for responsible rhetoric and national unity.
