The Federal Government has reinforced its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable innovation with the receipt of upgraded solar-powered electric tricycles aimed at creating employment opportunities for young Nigerians.

The initiative, facilitated through the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, is the product of a strategic collaboration between House of Destiny and the National Commercial Tricycles and Motorcycles Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (NATOMORAS).

Receiving the delegation in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro, described the partnership as a practical demonstration of innovation-driven empowerment. She likened the collaboration between the Ministry, House of Destiny, and NATOMORAS to “the three wheels of a tricycle—each essential, balanced, and mutually reinforcing in driving youth empowerment forward.”

Keshinro commended the partners for their commitment to addressing the socio-economic challenges confronting young people and vulnerable groups, stressing that structured youth engagement through entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, and sustainable business opportunities remains critical to national development.

“Empowering young Nigerians is not optional; it is a national necessity,” she stated.

She noted that the solar-powered tricycles align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes youth empowerment and economic inclusion. According to her, the tricycles represent more than a transport solution.

“These tricycles are not merely vehicles but instruments of employment, dignity, and self-reliance. Beneficiaries are encouraged to innovate and develop solar-powered solutions that support Nigeria’s transition to a green economy,” she added.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of House of Destiny, Dr. Israel Olajumoke, described the initiative as a model for how strategic partnerships can generate meaningful employment and promote innovation among Nigerian youths.

He emphasized that the programme encourages resilience and creativity while also promoting women’s participation in traditionally male-dominated sectors, noting that inclusive empowerment strengthens communities and enhances equitable access to opportunities.

Olajumoke reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to expanding the project nationwide through deeper collaboration with government and private stakeholders to scale renewable energy solutions and enhance economic inclusion.

Speaking on behalf of NATOMORAS President, Alhaji Usman Buba Gwoza, the Association’s Secretary, Madonna Corosi, disclosed that 20 solar-powered tricycles were recently distributed in Yobe State, bringing the total number distributed across several states to 74 units.

She said the initiative is designed to promote entrepreneurship, renewable energy adoption, and broader economic participation for Nigerian youth.

The development marks another step in the Federal Government’s efforts to combine innovation, sustainability, and job creation in tackling youth unemployment across the country.
