Ex-minister Uche Nnaji arrested over alleged certificate forgery
Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, was arrested on Wednesday at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, while preparing to board a chartered flight to Abuja.
Airport sources confirmed that Nnaji was taken into custody and is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning.
The arrest follows an ongoing ICPC investigation into allegations that the former minister forged his academic certificates. According to reports, the commission had been seeking his arrest after he allegedly failed to honour several invitations for questioning.
In mid-June, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted the ICPC permission to arrest Nnaji and also authorised the commission to declare him wanted through national newspapers, social media platforms and other media channels in connection with the investigation.
The ICPC had informed the court that its ex parte application became necessary after the former minister repeatedly failed to appear before investigators over the alleged certificate forgery.
