The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expressed deep sadness over the death of veteran Nigerian actor, cultural icon and Celebrity Special Marshal, Chief Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, MFR, popularly known as Olu Jacobs.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, conveyed the condolences of the management, officers, marshals and the entire FRSC family to the Special Marshals community, the Jacobs family, the Nigerian film and theatre industry, and the wider Nollywood fraternity over the loss.

In a condolence message, Mohammed described Olu Jacobs as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished sons whose remarkable career contributed significantly to the growth of the country’s creative industry and the projection of Nigeria’s cultural heritage to the international community.

According to the Corps Marshal, Jacobs was not only an accomplished actor but also a cultural institution whose influence extended beyond the entertainment industry.

He noted that as a Celebrity Special Marshal of the FRSC, the late actor also used his stature, voice and influence to support the cause of road safety and promote the collective responsibility of saving lives on Nigerian roads.

Mohammed said the death of the celebrated actor was therefore a significant loss to his family, the creative community, the Special Marshals family and the wider road safety community.

“The curtain may have fallen on his earthly performance, but the legacy of the man, the master and the patriot will continue to resonate across generations,” the Corps Marshal said.

He prayed that Almighty God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give his wife, family, colleagues, Special Marshals and admirers across the world the strength to bear the loss.

“Farewell, Olu Jacobs. Farewell, our distinguished Celebrity Special Marshal. Your light has dimmed, but your legacy will never fade,” Mohammed said.
