Read MoreBarrister Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Governor stated that the national PDP’s structural issue was the main reason for his resignation after months of contemplation and conversation. Principal Causes of the Defection: Instability in the National PDP Mutfwang claimed that although the state chapter is still operational, remaining in the party would be a strategic risk to his mandate due to the “undeniable structural flaws” at the national level. Relationship with President Tinubu: Despite Mutfwang’s prior rejection of invitations to join the ruling party, he commended President Bola Tinubu for preserving a friendly relationship and demonstrating sincere interest in Plateau State. Federal Benefits: It is believed that joining the APC will help the state gain federal support, appointments, and developmental advantages. The governor made it clear that his choice was made with the intention of keeping Plateau State at the top of the national political agenda rather than for personal benefit. “Good news” about federal help is already on the way, he hinted.
