Ughelli Monarch Hails Oborevwori on Otovwodo Flyover, Says Project Will Transform Kingdom
The Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi III, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for initiating the Otovwodo Flyover project, describing it as a historic intervention that will permanently reposition Ughelli as a modern metropolis.
The monarch gave the commendation on Monday at his palace in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area, shortly after the groundbreaking ceremony of the flyover, while receiving the Governor and other dignitaries.
According to the traditional ruler, the project marks a major milestone in the development of Ughelli Kingdom, stressing that meaningful development directly improves the quality of life of the people.
Speaking through the Otota (Spokesman) of Ughelli Kingdom, Chief Peter Akpofure, HRM Oharisi III praised Governor Oborevwori’s visionary leadership and commitment to the progress of the kingdom. He highlighted the completion of strategic roads around the Otovwodo axis, noting that they have significantly reduced long-standing traffic congestion in the area.
The monarch also acknowledged other road projects across the kingdom and applauded the Governor for appointing sons and daughters of Ughelli Kingdom into key positions, describing the gestures as inclusive governance that has positively impacted communities.
“This flyover will forever change the face of Ughelli and will be remembered and appreciated by generations yet unborn,” the monarch said, while offering prayers for divine wisdom, resources and support for the Governor to succeed.
He further pledged the loyalty and cooperation of the Ughelli people to the Oborevwori administration.
In his response, Governor Oborevwori thanked the monarch and the people of Ughelli Kingdom for their warm reception and continued support, describing the traditional institution as a critical partner in grassroots development.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented infrastructure across Delta State, stating that the Otovwodo Flyover is aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing safety and stimulating economic activities in Ughelli, in line with his MORE Agenda.
Meanwhile, the Governor also paid a courtesy visit to the Ughelli residence of industrialist and political leader, Olorogun Morrison Olori, founder of the Ukodo Nation Political Support Group.
During the visit, Olori and members of the group commended Governor Oborevwori for his development strides across the state and assured him of their continued support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
