BUA Rewards Super Eagles with $500,000 Despite AFCON Exit
Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has fulfilled his $500,000 pledge to the Super Eagles, commending the team for their bravery and spirited performance at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In a statement dated January 14, 2026, Rabiu praised the national team for their courage, determination and unity on the pitch, noting that although the Eagles narrowly missed out on reaching the final, they made Nigerians proud with their effort.
“You fought with your hearts, gave your all, and showed true courage and determination. Though it wasn’t meant to be this time, you have made every Nigerian proud,” the statement read.
Rabiu acknowledged that while the desired result was not achieved, the passion and commitment displayed by the players were worthy of celebration. He said the decision to go ahead with the $500,000 reward was in recognition of their hard work, dedication and the joy they brought to Nigerians throughout the tournament.
“Sometimes, even our best efforts don’t bring the outcome we hope for, but the spirit you displayed truly matters,” he added.
Encouraging the team to remain hopeful, the BUA chairman expressed confidence that the experience gained from the tournament would lead to greater success in the future.
“Keep your heads high, Super Eagles. Nigeria believes in your future victories,” the statement concluded.
