FG Highlights Youth Development Agenda to NIPSS Participants
The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has showcased its youth-focused policies and programmes to participants of the Senior Executive Course 48 (SEC 48) of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, during a study tour visit.
The engagement provided a platform for the Ministry to outline its strategic initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth among Nigerian youth.
Representing the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to unlocking the vast potential of young Nigerians as key drivers of national development.
She emphasized that youth are central to Nigeria’s economic transformation, noting that government policies are focused on creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
According to her, the Ministry is strengthening programmes in entrepreneurship development, digital innovation, skills acquisition, and access to finance to empower young people to transition from job seekers to job creators.
She further highlighted ongoing investments in human capital development, mentorship, and sustainable financing as critical steps toward building a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem capable of producing globally competitive youth.
The Permanent Secretary also commended NIPSS for its vital role in shaping strategic leadership and national policy development, adding that the study tour aligns with Nigeria’s broader objective of leveraging youth for economic diversification and sustainable growth.
Speaking on behalf of the Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, the Director of Research, Prof. Musa Umar, noted that the theme of the course underscores the importance of youth participation, innovation, and entrepreneurship, particularly within the framework of the Orange Economy.
He explained that the visit was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of government youth development initiatives while fostering dialogue that will inform policy recommendations at the end of the programme.
