2027 Polls: Aisha Yesufu Says Tinubu Easier to Defeat
Prominent Nigerian activist and social commentator, Aisha Yesufu, has declared that unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election would be far easier than the effort made during the 2023 presidential race.
Yesufu made the assertion in a recent post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing confidence that changing political realities and public sentiment would work against the incumbent ahead of the next election cycle.
“God willing, defeating Tinubu in 2027 will be far easier than it was defeating him in 2023,” she wrote.
The outspoken activist, a key figure during the 2023 elections and a strong supporter of the opposition Labour Party, has remained a vocal critic of the Tinubu administration, particularly on governance, economic hardship and accountability.
Her comment has sparked widespread debate within political circles, with supporters interpreting it as a reflection of growing public dissatisfaction over rising inflation, fuel subsidy removal, currency instability and the escalating cost of living.
Political analysts note that Yesufu’s statement mirrors the views of several opposition figures who believe that voter frustration and economic pressures could significantly reshape the political landscape before 2027. They argue that the administration’s performance will play a decisive role in the electoral fortunes of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, allies of the President have dismissed such claims, maintaining that the administration remains firmly in control and well-positioned for another electoral victory. Senior APC figures have repeatedly expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and the party’s nationwide political structure.
