Breaking: Tinubu Removes Egbetokun as IGP
President Bola Tinubu has removed Kayode Egbetokun from office as the Inspector-General of Police.
Presidential aides, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development on Tuesday, revealing that the President asked Egbetokun to step aside during a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.
“Yes, Egbetokun is gone,” one of the aides disclosed.
Another aide added that a formal statement announcing the decision is being prepared and will be released shortly.
Attempts to reach the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for confirmation were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, could not be reached for comments at the time of filing this report.
