The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the list of cleared and disqualified aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections.

According to the party, 33 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, while 65 others failed the screening process.

Among those affected are 32 aspirants reportedly aligned with the camp of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, all of whom were disqualified from the exercise.

Meanwhile, serving members of the Rivers State House of Assembly believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were cleared to contest.

In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chibike Ikenga, aspirants who purchased Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the House of Assembly election were advised to confirm their screening status at the party’s state secretariat located at No. 268B Aba Road, Port Harcourt.

Ikenga also disclosed that appeals arising from the screening outcome should be submitted through the party secretariat, adding that the appeal process is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, by 10 a.m.

The party’s screening committee cited several reasons for the disqualification of affected aspirants, including failure to meet constitutional membership requirements, submission of incomplete or inconsistent documents, invalid affidavits, lack of voters cards and party membership slips, irregularities in nominators’ details, and allegations of inducement and attempted bribery of committee members.
