Ibani Support Group Empowers Abraka Market Women With N50,000 Each
Small-scale market women in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, have received cash empowerment of N50,000 each from the support group, Abraka United For Ibani, on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Abraka State Constituency.
The empowerment, according to the organisers, is aimed at supporting the women’s businesses, helping them expand their trading activities and enabling them meet some of their family responsibilities, including the educational needs of their children.
The cash distribution took place in Abraka and was coordinated by the leader of the group, Chief Efe Don Kigho, who assured the beneficiaries that the empowerment programme would be extended to other market women across the community.
Addressing the women in the Urhobo language, Kigho said the N50,000 cash support was part of Ibani’s commitment to supporting the economic activities of women in Abraka.
“This Ibani empowerment will dole out N50,000 cash to each person and must go round. This is the provision he has made to support your businesses for your businesses to grow and to ensure your children’s return to school,” he said.
Kigho also appealed to the beneficiaries to pray for the APC candidate, saying their prayers and support would encourage him to continue with programmes targeted at the people.
“All of you should offer prayers for him, so he will be confident that Abraka market women are solidly behind him. On Friday we will repeat this gesture again,” he said.
The cash distribution was greeted with wide jubilation among the beneficiaries, who expressed appreciation for the gesture and subsequently offered prayers for the APC candidate.
The organisers said the empowerment programme would continue, with another round of distribution expected on Friday as part of efforts to reach more market women in Abraka.
