CJTF Raises Alarm Over Impersonation, Online Fraud In Delta
The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Delta State Command, has raised the alarm over the alleged impersonation of its State Commander by individuals using his photograph and identity to defraud members of the public.
The Command, in a public warning issued by the CJTF Delta State Commander, said the impersonators were operating through online platforms and targeting members of the public, including personnel of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and CJTF.
According to the statement, the individuals involved have been using the photograph and identity of the CJTF Delta State Commander without authorisation, thereby falsely presenting themselves as representatives of the organisation.
The Command categorically dissociated itself from the activities of the suspected fraudsters, stressing that it neither authorised nor had any connection with the individuals involved.
The CJTF urged members of the public to exercise extreme caution and refrain from sending money to anyone claiming to be selling CJTF or security-related uniforms, equipment, gadgets or other items through online platforms.
It also warned the public against making payments into personal bank accounts based solely on online messages, social-media claims or representations by unverified individuals.
The Command further advised anyone who encounters suspicious social-media accounts, telephone numbers, bank accounts or messages linked to the alleged scam to report them to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
It urged persons who may have already been contacted or defrauded to preserve relevant evidence, including screenshots of conversations, account details, telephone numbers, payment receipts and other transaction records that could assist law-enforcement agencies in their investigations.
The CJTF stressed that its uniforms, identification items and security equipment are not sold to members of the public through unofficial online platforms or personal accounts.
“For legitimate enquiries, please visit or contact the official CJTF office/command in your state and verify before making any payment,” the Command advised.
The Delta State CJTF Command called on members of the public to remain vigilant and help circulate the warning to prevent further financial losses and protect the name and integrity of the organisation.
The Command also urged the public to verify the identity and authority of anyone claiming to represent the CJTF before engaging in any financial transaction.
The warning was signed by the CJTF Delta State Commander, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Delta State Command.
