Hon. Rex E. Ogboru, candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Abraka State Constituency, has called on Nigerians to use the country’s Independence Day celebration to reflect on the future they desire and renew their commitment to building a better society.

Ogboru made the call in an Independence Day message to Nigerians, particularly the people of Abraka, where he stressed the need for citizens to remain committed to peace, unity, accountability and responsible citizenship.

According to him, Nigeria’s independence should mean more than a yearly celebration, but should also provide an opportunity to reflect on the country’s progress and the aspirations of its citizens.

He said true independence should guarantee citizens “the freedom to dream, the opportunity to prosper, and the right to demand good governance, accountability, justice, security, quality education, better infrastructure, and meaningful opportunities.”

The NDC candidate urged the people of Abraka and Nigerians at large to continue believing in the possibilities of their communities and country while collectively working towards achieving them.

Ogboru acknowledged that the journey towards a better society might not always be easy, but maintained that courage, integrity and collective determination could help bring about meaningful development.

He further called for sustained efforts towards building what he described as “a better Abraka, a better Delta State, and a better Nigeria.”

The candidate concluded his message with prayers for Nigeria, Delta State and the people of Abraka, saying: “May God bless our people, bless Abraka, bless Delta State, and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He also reaffirmed his message of optimism with the declaration: “Victory for Nigeria. Victory for Delta. Victory for Abraka.”
