The Citizen Joint Tactical Formation (CJTF TF), Delta State Command, has appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, traditional rulers, local government chairmen and other stakeholders for support to strengthen its community-based security operations across the state.

The State Commander, Comr. Stanley Oghenewvede Paul, made the appeal in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, highlighting the formation’s contributions to crime prevention, intelligence gathering, community policing and the protection of lives and property.

According to him, the CJTF TF comprises disciplined youths drawn from communities across Delta State who voluntarily assist conventional security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, in maintaining peace and security.

He said members of the formation had continued to render selfless service in their respective communities, engaging young people to shun criminal activities while supporting efforts to prevent crime and maintain public order.

However, the commander lamented that inadequate logistics and funding were limiting the formation’s operational capacity despite the commitment of its members.

He identified the absence of a befitting state secretariat, operational vehicles, uniforms, communication equipment and adequate funding as some of the major challenges confronting the command.

“We have the manpower, we have the passion, and we have able-bodied youths who are ready to serve and protect our communities, but we lack basic support. We are operating with our own sweat,” he said.

Paul appealed to Governor Oborevwori to recognise and partner with the formation as part of broader efforts to strengthen peace and security in Delta State under the administration’s MORE Agenda.

He also called on the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, local government chairmen, community leaders and well-meaning individuals to support the organisation with operational facilities, vehicles, training and other essential resources.

According to him, official recognition and institutional support would enable the formation to improve its effectiveness and contribute more meaningfully to community safety.

“We are calling on His Excellency, our revered Royal Fathers, our Local Government Chairmen and all stakeholders and good people of Delta State to support us. We need official recognition, an operational office, vehicles and training support. If supported, we will do more to ensure Delta State remains safe,” he added.

The CJTF TF Delta State Command reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, loyalty and lawful conduct, assuring the government and residents that it would continue to work within the ambit of the law in pursuit of a safer Delta State.

For support and enquiries, members of the public may contact the command on 08055154158 or 09165034723.
