EFCC Boss Urges NYSC Members to Lead Anti-Corruption Fight
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to take ownership of the fight against corruption by embracing integrity and committing themselves to honest work, stressing that Nigeria’s development depends largely on their resolve to reject corrupt practices.
He gave the charge in Kubwa, Abuja, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, while addressing Batch “A” Stream I corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp.
Speaking through Superintendent of the EFCC, SE Johnson Oloyede, in a lecture titled “The Role of Youth in the Anti-Corruption Fight,” Olukoyede described young people as critical stakeholders in the battle against economic and financial crimes.
According to him, “One critical group of stakeholders in the anti-corruption fight is the youth. Beyond being the leaders of tomorrow, many economic crimes, especially cybercrimes, are committed by young people. I encourage you to take ownership of the fight against corruption.”
He further challenged corps members to see themselves as vanguards of positive change and “foot soldiers” in the collective effort to rid the nation of corruption, urging them to embrace the ideals of a “new breed youth” driven by solutions, integrity and national development.
Similar messages were delivered by the EFCC Chairman, through senior officers of the Commission, at NYSC orientation camps in Lagos, Yobe, Rivers, Kaduna and other states across the country, where corps members were urged to reject cybercrime, serve as whistleblowers, and support the EFCC’s mandate through lawful and patriotic actions.
Olukoyede emphasized that unemployment should never be used to justify criminality and encouraged corps members to use their Community Development Service platforms to campaign against corruption and internet fraud, while promoting transparency, accountability and national progress.
