FRSC Sacks 43 Officers Over Misconduct
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed 43 of its personnel over offences ranging from desertion to scandalous behaviour and patrol misconduct, in what the agency described as a firm demonstration of its zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline.
According to a statement signed by the Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the affected officers include 31 dismissed for desertion, five for scandalous conduct, and seven for patrol-related misconduct.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the action as a decisive and uncompromising step aimed at protecting the integrity of the organisation. He stressed that the FRSC badge remains a symbol of honour and responsibility, warning that any officer who violates the Corps’ standards would face the full weight of its disciplinary machinery.
Mohammed noted that desertion constitutes a grave breach of service oath, particularly for a safety-critical organisation tasked with safeguarding millions of road users daily. He added that scandalous behaviour and patrol misconduct undermine public trust and contradict the Corps’ core values of discipline, transparency and service excellence.
Reaffirming the agency’s commitment to professionalism, the Corps Marshal assured Nigerians that the FRSC would intensify internal monitoring, strengthen supervisory frameworks and promote ethical reorientation across commands nationwide.
He urged members of the motoring public to maintain confidence in the Corps and continue supporting its mandate of ensuring safer roads across the country.
