The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the newly restored Abraka State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Erhire Awaritoma, has called for a fresh beginning in political representation for the people of Abraka.

Awaritoma made the call as political campaigns officially commenced, urging residents of the constituency to embrace his “Fresh Start for Abraka” agenda.

The ADC candidate said his decision to contest the election was driven by the need to give the people of Abraka a stronger, independent and more effective voice at the Delta State House of Assembly.

He recalled that he initially sought to represent the people under the larger Ethiope East Constituency before the restoration of the Abraka State Constituency.

According to him, the restoration has created a new opportunity for Abraka to have a distinct voice in the state legislature and pursue its developmental interests more directly.

“Abraka has lacked the strong and independent voice it deserves. That reality is one of the major reasons I was motivated to step forward,” he said.

Awaritoma described the restoration of the constituency as an opportunity for a new political beginning, stressing that the people deserve leadership that is energetic, accountable, accessible and committed to their welfare.

He said his ambition goes beyond occupying a seat in the legislature, noting that he intends to provide responsive, responsible and people-oriented representation.

The ADC candidate pledged to raise the challenges confronting Abraka on the floor of the House, advocate meaningful development and work towards ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach communities across the constituency.

He therefore appealed to residents to support his candidacy and the ADC, saying his campaign would be based on the message of a fresh start rather than politics of division.

Awaritoma also urged his supporters, families, friends and volunteers to take the campaign message peacefully to communities and households across the constituency.

“We must give Abraka the representation it truly deserves,” he said.
