FRSC Declares 2026 Year of Renewed Commitment
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, mni, has formally declared 2026 as a year of renewed commitment, professionalism and improved service delivery while addressing Officers and Marshals during his first parade of the year.
Speaking at the parade, the Corps Marshal reaffirmed that discipline, unity, professionalism and commitment to service remain the core identity of the FRSC. He stressed that every Officer on patrol represents the image of the Corps and is constantly under public scrutiny, warning that any lapse in discipline, civility or professionalism will no longer be tolerated.
He described patrol teams as frontline ambassadors of the Corps and charged them to remain courteous, transparent and fair in the discharge of their duties, guided strictly by the Corps’ core values of timeliness and service orientation.
The Corps Marshal disclosed that the 2026 Corporate Strategic Goals of the FRSC have been approved and released, directing all formations nationwide to align their operations with clearly defined strategic initiatives, actionable plans and performance-driven job binders.
On security, he urged personnel to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times, both on and off duty, in view of prevailing threats such as kidnapping, robbery and banditry, emphasising prevention as a key approach to safety.
Addressing staff welfare, he encouraged Officers and Marshals to prioritise their health through regular medical checks and subscription to approved health plans, noting that good health is essential for effective service delivery.
Outlining management’s focus areas for 2026, the Corps Marshal highlighted smarter operations, faster emergency response, improved supervision and public engagement, zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, enhanced welfare support and protection for disciplined personnel.
He also announced sustained welfare interventions, including capacity building and training, merit-based promotions, increased approval for further studies, timely payment of salaries and allowances, renovation of field accommodations, improved deployment practices, better access to medical care, strengthened cooperative schemes and prompt settlement of insurance claims.
The Corps Marshal issued a strong warning against misconduct such as extortion, abuse of authority and incivility to the motoring public, calling on Commanding Officers to mentor subordinates, supervise effectively and lead by example.
He concluded by urging Officers and Marshals to remain hopeful, focused and innovative, expressing confidence that 2026 would be a landmark year for the FRSC and its personnel.
