Delta Govt Probes Alleged Maltreatment at Asaba Diagnostic Centre
The Delta State Government has commenced an investigation into allegations of maltreatment and unprofessional conduct at a popular diagnostic facility in Asaba following a formal complaint by a resident.
The probe was initiated after a report was received through the Health Monitoring Help Desk, prompting the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Health Monitoring, Dr. Awunor Alexander Chidubem, to lead an investigative visit to the facility under the directive of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme.
According to Dr. Awunor, the visit was aimed at obtaining first-hand information and ensuring accountability in healthcare service delivery across the state. He disclosed that findings from the assessment would be compiled and submitted to the Commissioner for Health for appropriate action.
He noted that the Health Monitoring Team operates under the mandate of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whose administration places high priority on the welfare, safety and protection of Deltans, particularly in the health sector.
The visit, he added, also serves as a warning to healthcare providers in the state to uphold professionalism, avoid unethical practices and comply strictly with established standards.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to treating all complaints with transparency and impartiality, while urging residents to continue reporting cases of maltreatment or malpractice to strengthen oversight and accountability in the healthcare system.
The Office of the Executive Assistant commended the Commissioner for Health for his leadership and the Governor for his support, stressing that the MORE Agenda remains central to improving healthcare services across Delta State.
